ATAG has been collaborating with industry experts (via dedicated working groups) over the course of 2024 and 2025 to update the Waypoint 2050 analysis that was published in 2021. The Waypoint 2050 project identified various pathways for the decarbonisation of air transport and the purpose of the update is to assess the progress towards net zero.
Work is nearing completion and a public-facing report is under preparation and likely to be available early next year. To accompany the release of Waypoint, ATAG is also preparing a comprehensive media messaging document and communications materials addressing key concerns and scepticism around aviation decarbonisation and highlighting progress within the industry.
