UNFCCC COP31, Antalya

The UNFCCC’s COP31 will take place from 9-20 November in Antalya, Türkiye. While Türkiye is the official host, Australia will serve as President of Negotiations and the pre-COP meetings will be held on the Pacific islands of Fiji and Tuvalu. The organisers are hoping that it will be one of the largest COP gatherings to date and are preparing to receive up to 120,000 visitors, mainly in the more public-facing Green Zone. ATAG will be present onsite and will assume its usual role of coordinating the aviation industry delegation, monitoring discussions and reporting back. However, it is unlikely that any aviation-specific items will be on the official negotiation agenda.

ATAG has established a COP31 task group to work on the industry strategy. If there are any industry representatives who are planning to attend the COP and would like to be added to the task group mailing list, please email Anna Patient (patienta@atag.org).

ATAG is in discussions about potentially co-hosting a side event at COP31, with a focus on aviation’s net zero transition: a shared responsibility.
