STRATEGIC ASSOCIATE MEMBER

Heathrow

Heathrow is the UK’s international gateway, the largest airport in Europe and the most connected megahub in the world – connecting to 239 destinations in 89 countries. The airport welcomes over 200,000 passengers on roughly 1,300 flights each day, and serves as Britain’s hub for trade, tourism and investment. Approximately 75,000 colleagues work at Heathrow – the airport directly employs about 10% of them, with the rest working for Team Heathrow partners including airlines, ground handlers and retailers.

Heathrow 2.0: Connecting People and Planet is the airport’s sustainability strategy. It sets out how Heathrow will address the most material issues for its sector and make a difference by 2030. By then, the aviation industry must have made substantive progress towards decarbonisation if it is to remain on track to meet its goal of net zero by 2050. Heathrow recognises that it must continue to work to minimise the environmental impacts that arise from operating one of the world’s biggest airports, while maximising the benefits for its local communities and colleagues.
