ATAG Path to Net Zero briefings
ATAG is continuing to host Path to Net Zero briefings around every 6 weeks in 2026, to share views and updates on topics related to aviation and sustainability. It is a practice that we started in 2023 and we have since then organised a total of 26 briefings. Two have taken place since the start of the year and have addressed the following issues:
- ICAO’s Finvest Hub – the global platform established by ICAO to accelerate financing for sustainable aviation projects with a strong focus on SAF production facilities and other decarbonisation initiatives.
- The Global Solidarity Levies Task Force – established at COP28 in 2023, an initiative led by countries including France, Kenya and Barbados to explore innovative international levies and taxes (including potential options on aviation) as a means to raise new climate and development finance (see the ATAG Member Briefing, December 2025)
- Aviation: Benefits Beyond Borders 2026 (see separate article)
- Waypoint 2050 3rd edition, 2026 ( see separate article)
- ICAO activities, including: Aviation Climate Week 2026, the ICAO 7th Worldwide Air Transport Conference, the landmark study on women in aviation and the Global Aviation Gender Summit in Luanda, Angola in July 2026
- Views from the Mediterranean Shipping Company on the International Maritime Organization’s net zero framework
- Findings from the most recent IATA passenger survey on sustainability
- Preparations for the UNFCCC COP31 (see separate article)
- The First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels (see separate article)
- Messaging guidance on the wider energy transition / current fuel crisis.
The presentations and other follow-up information from all the briefings are available from the ATAG private website.
